Paper, canvas, thread, pencil, charcoal, marker, book, 8x5x4"
This book was created for my 2019 solo show at Beacon Gallery in Boston. Language is a key obstacle for many immigrants, me included. Not only does it serve as a tool for communication, but also a way of understanding a new culture. The pages in this book, written in Hebrew and tells the tale of a family having to move homes, has been fully altered. Each page highlights a word and runs through the alphabet in Hebrew and English, highlighting and expanding on issues of home, identity, longing and belonging. Themes that are universal to any immigrant.
